The University of Arizona (UArizona) Graduate College is happy to award the prestigious Dr. Maria Teresa Velez Diversity Leadership Scholarship for the 2024–2025 academic year. Financial Benefits:
- Amount of Awards: Two scholarships are available for the 2024–2025 school year.
- Grant Amount: The scholarship offers a $25,000 cash grant, individual student health insurance, and full base graduate tuition coverage on the main campus. Please take note that this does not include the differential tuition or the AFAT cost.Recipients cannot postpone the grant to the next year or hold concurrent student wage positions or graduate assistant/associateships.
Eligibility Criteria:
In order to qualify for the Dr. Maria Teresa Velez Diversity Leadership Scholarship, candidates must fulfill the subsequent requirements:
- Academic Standing: The nominee must be in excellent academic standing and possess a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Commitment to Diversity: Through their teaching, research, outreach, or service activities, the nominee should have shown that they have made a substantial contribution to improving diversity and inclusion.
Application Process:
This scholarship is given out via a nomination process. Each PhD program at UArizona is limited to one nomination, which doctorate students must submit through their academic unit.
Nominations: UArizona academic units must recommend nominees. The Directors of Graduate Studies or Graduate Coordinators must receive the application online.
