HessenFonds Germany Scholarships 2025 For International Students:

Financial Benefits:

The following expenses are covered by the HessenFonds scholarship:

  • Refugee students: €300/month
  • Doctoral candidates: €1,200/month
  • Persecuted researchers: €2,300/month

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to be eligible for HessenFonds, candidates need to fulfill certain prerequisites:

For Students:
  • Acknowledged status as a refugee or asylum seeker.
  • Enrolled at a Hesse state university.
  • Exceptional academic achievement.
For Doctoral Candidates:
  • Accepted to a Hessian university as a PhD student under supervision.
  • Demonstrated excellence in research or academia.
For Researchers:
  • Proof of an offer from a Hesse university for a research or teaching placement.
  • Noteworthy contributions to teaching and/or research.
Extra prerequisites:
  • Candidates must have lived in Germany for no more than four years, while those with children may stay up to seven years.
  • With justification, reapplication is feasible.

Application Process:

Instead of sending applications straight to the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Arts, and Culture, they must go via one of the state universities in Hesse. How to apply is as follows:

  • Contact the international office or refugee coordinator of a Hessian university for application forms.
  • Before the internal date set by the university, turn in the completed application.
  • The Hessian Ministry will receive nominations from the university for qualified applicants.
