English Language Requirements:
You must fulfill one of the following requirements in order to demonstrate your English language proficiency for Åbo Akademi University’s international master’s programs:
- TOEFL iBT: A minimum of 92 is required. The validity of scores is two years. Use code 9880 to share directly, or upload a PDF.
- IELTS Academic: A minimum of 6.5 overall, with no band falling below 5.5. Share directly or upload a PDF. The validity of scores is two years.
- PTE Academic: A minimum of 62 is required. Add your Score Report Code to a PDF file. The validity of scores is two years.
- Proficiency in Cambridge English C1 Advanced or C2: Clear either A, B, or C. You can post your Statement of Results or share the results immediately. Tests conducted after 2005 are only accepted.
- English degree from university: completed in a nation that is part of the EU/EEA, Switzerland, the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or a list of English-speaking nations starting in 2024. Upload your transcripts and degree certificate.
- Speaking, hearing, writing, and reading are all at Level 5 on the National Certificate of Language Proficiency (YKI). For verification, upload your certificate.

Academic prerequisites:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant topic that is equal to a Finnish university degree (180 ECTS or three years of full-time study) is required in order to apply to an international master’s program. Program requirements may differ, but generally speaking, you must have completed at least 60 ECTS in your major topic.
